First night of the Olympics

We pretty much spent all of last night watching fencing, a sport we know NOTHING about. But it was fun figuring out all the rules while writing a lengthy email to Teddy, my fencing friend, with all sorts of questions and comments on the women’s sabre that swept the event last night!

We are also keeping tabs on swimming and volleyball…pretty much all USA sports…The Olympics are so great! My only question is…where are the team cheerios? I remember them always coming out during the Olympics, but so far they are nowhere in sight….has anyone seen team cheerios at home?

~SECOND NIGHT~

First game! So the Games have begun (I can't divulge any game specifics yet), but it feels great to get that fist game under our belt. And after the game...we got to see our friends & family! I got a little emotional seeing Teresa with a little run when I walked out, and the rest of the fam just behind her, I teared up a little, just a little...And Dad's whistle before the game almost broke my "game face," but it was good to know they were there among the huge crowd of USA fans. Our fans were definitely rivaling the China fans...we had a GREAT crowd!

jill and i were swmimming laps at del amigo pool yesterday, looking at the swim team records and reflecting on your journey from the humble neighborhood pool in the slums of danville to the bird's nest in bejing. one of the lifeguards (monte vista graduate) claimed that he saw you on TV during the opening ceremonies. you are now the most famous del amigo dolphin in history!
our family is following the games with our usual vigor, heightened by your involvement as an OLYMPIAN! go get 'em!

GO TEAM USA

Wow, what a nail-biter, Jess. Watched the game live on the web - and was cheering all the way from Danville as well. I think my whistle at the beginning of the game only got so far as the neighbors, but know that there are many whistles and cheers heading your way from the North American continent. We're behind you all 150% !

My mom and I spend the whole game trying to figure out if you are in or not, but you sure made it easy with your fantastic goal! Also had to pause the tv 3!!!! times to catch Carlos and the fam in the stands! Its so much fun watching and cheering for you! Keep up the good work, good luck! GO USA!!!!!!!!!!

soooo proud of you Jess. Your calm demeanor and focus during both of your games was admirable. And we couldn't help but clap and cheer in Italy's game when your shot sailed into the high corner. That's our cuz/niece! Keep up the great team work and go gettum Russians!!
